"It keeps saying, 'Can't find mailhost.bauercom.net'"

This means: One of three things:
a) the settings for your POP3 and/or SMTP server are incorrect;
b) for some reason you don't have DNS (see sidebar for more information on that);
c) the mail servers are really busy (this is the least likely of the three possibilities).

If you have an account that has web access, you can tell whether or not you're able to actually send data over the internet at all by going online and downloading a web page. You'll want one that updates a lot.

If you can pull down that web page, you know it's not a connection issue and should focus on troubleshooting your mailer.

If you can't download that web page, you'll know it's a connection issue and therefore can concentrate your efforts on checking the PPP dialer configurations

If you've verified that your configurations are correct and it's still not working, feel free to give us a call. (541)689-0893

What is DNS?

DNS (Domain Name Service) is what lets your computer do things once you've dialled up using a PPP dialer. To use the TV analogy, your television turns on because you've got it plugged in. Dialling up to BauerCom.Net is like "plugging in" your computer to the Internet. If your TV doesn't have an antenna, though, you might not get any channels. DNS is the antenna for your computer.
